Feathers; for something so light they carry such a strong significance across so many cultures.
Much of this relates to travel, freedom, hope, protection, good luck and messages from above.
Many people wear feather jewellery to symbolise a lost one and their connection to them, and the finding of a feather in nature or an unexpected place is commonly thought of as a gift or a message from their lost loved one.
A drifting or found feather is often thought of as a message from the sky or a higher power, a communication from a guardian angel.
Another beautiful belief is a Native American one which is that feathers are a gift from the sky, they represent our deep connection with nature and signify a link between the bird, the feather owner and the creator. The Native Americans also use feathers for gifting as a sign of honour, as well as for ceremonies, rituals and protection.
For me Feathers have always represented flight, freedom and a dreaminess. They conjure up feelings of swooping freely across the sky, not limited by our own or society's customs and expectation.
I named my feather jewellery collection Daydream Catcher, in honour of following the path you daydream of most, not the path that other people set out for you, because that is what the heart truly desires.
Feathers, and therefore Feather jewellery, have so many important spiritual representations and it’s a pleasure to recreate my interpretation of something so special, due to my jewellery being handcrafted every Feather ring, Feather necklace or Feather earring I make is always ever so slightly unique, just as is every feather in nature.
Giving a Feather jewellery gift is meaningful and thoughtful as feathers have such powerful symbolism associated with freedom, protection, hope and inspiration.
